Special Situations

Well-trained healing partners will adapt the sequence to fit the situation. Here are some examples of when the normal table sequence cannot be followed.

  1. When the physical condition of the client requires that the work be done in a chair.
  2. When doing healings on a bed, either in the client’s home or hospital or nursing facility.

In both situations, healing partners will follow the sequence as well as they can within the limitations of the situation. The love and intention you put into the healing experience will more than compensate for any awkwardness or break in the flow. It is important for both partners be in close communication with each other.

  1. Another situation that requires adaptability and creativity is when a young child is brought in by parents. If the child is apprehensive and clings to the parents, attempting to place the child not the table would not be wise. The child may feel more secure being held by the parent while the healing takes place, and if a reclining chair is available, the sequence may be followed quite well. Or the parent can lie on the table with the young child or baby laying on them while the healing is taking place.

It is important to remember is that whatever are the special needs of the situation, The Pilgrimage Integrative Healing Process should be adapted so as to bring as much comfort, relaxation and healing as the client will permit. Doing the best you can, with caring, prayer and focused attention, is your gift to the client. God will take care of the rest.
